Q1. AM I ELIGIBLE FOR FINANCIAL AID?
A1. All applicants can apply for interest-free loans from the Jewish Free Loan Association. ASN is approved to participate in the Title IV Federal Student Aid Pell Grant and Direct Loan Programs for the Vocational Nurse Program. Applications for Federal Student Aid are made online at fafsa.ed.gov. More information can be found at studentaid.gov and studentloans.gov.
ASN provides scholarships to Vocational Nurse students, with amounts depending on annual donations received by the school.
Q2. DO I HAVE TO BE JEWISH TO QUALIFY FOR A LOAN FROM THE JEWISH FREE LOAN ASSOCIATION?
A2. All faiths, all backgrounds, all students can apply for funds from the Jewish Free Loan Association. These are not gifts of financial assistance. They are interest-free loans and must be paid back. For more information, visit the JFLA website at: jfla.org.
Q3. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE ANNENBERG SCHOOL OF NURSING OVER LARGER INSTITUTIONS?
A3. The Annenberg School of Nursing is a program of the 100-year-old LA Jewish Health. For more than a century the Jewish Home has explored and introduced new, more efficient ways to deliver quality healthcare to seniors.
ASN is committed to our students’ education and professional placements. Our small class size of 24 students ensures close, personalized attention. As a non-profit institution, the Annenberg School is able to focus exclusively on the needs of our students and their professional development.
Q4. DOES LA JEWISH HEALTH HIRE GRADUATES OF ASN?
A4. Yes. But there is no guarantee of employment at LA Jewish Health. And before they can be considered for employment they must pass the state licensing exam. Then, if we have an opening, ASN graduates will be given priority.
Q5. DOES THE ANNENBERG SCHOOL PROVIDE JOB PLACEMENT?
A5. We can’t guarantee a job after graduation. However, we will help develop professional skills such as resume and letter writing. We will work to strengthen interviewing skills and show students what to do after the interview.
