Admissions
THIS IS WHAT IT TAKES.
To enroll in the program, applicants must be at least 18 and meet the following requirements:
- Have a US high school diploma or equivalent (foreign diploma must be evaluated for equivalence)
- 18 years or older
- Have passed an entrance exam
- Show us your Social Security card as well as a valid California ID
In addition, all candidates must undergo fingerprinting and pass a health evaluation. This requires a physical, TB test, and drug screening. The last step in the process is a one-on-one interview with the Director.

Entrance Exam
To enroll in the Annenberg School of Nursing (ASN) Nurse Assistant Program, candidates must pass a timed exam that measures English and math skills. Minimum score to qualify for admission is 75%.
Exams are by appointment only. Call or email to schedule a day and time.
Fees
One reasonable fee covers everything:
- 24 days of classroom and clinical coursework.
- All books.
- Exam Fee.
- 3 ASN T-shirts.
- Graduation Pin.
- Drug screening.
- Physical.
- Fingerprinting.

Physical Working Requirements
STRENGTH.
Nursing hands are caring hands. But they have to be strong hands, too. In fact, nursing is a profession that requires some degree of fitness and strength. To qualify, candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Nurses must also have the strength to pull and push. Another physical demand of nurses is standing for long periods of time, up to 12 hours.
AWARENESS.
Even under the best conditions nursing is hard work. Nurses need to be aware of their surroundings their entire shift. Mental awareness minimizes the risks inherent in the profession.
Risks
- Distractions caused by frequent interruptions.
- Injury from burns, equipment, and odors.
- Exposure to infectious waste and diseases including TB, Hepatitis, and AIDS.
